Welcome to Issue 1!

I’m kicking things off this week with the first issue. In case you missed it, here’s the post announcing this new publication, Working on Something.

I’ll be starting out with two sections (three, if you count the last section where I share one fun link). In the first section, insights, you’ll find links to interesting articles, videos, sites, books, or podcasts; while the second is a collection of helpful tools for your maker journey.

Insights

If you’re looking to learn about web3 in order to understand what the hype is all about, a good starting place is this collection of resources by prominent web3 investor, Gaby Goldberg. Bonus: if you want to transition to a web3 career in a non-technical role, be sure to check out this helpful guide.

Community first, product second is an idea I’ve been digging into for a while now. Launching your product into an engaged community will solve the common struggle of finding your first users. It also gives you actual users you can test ideas with as you build. I’ve found this Community OS guide helpful for thinking through the entire process of building a community. It also includes resources like apps, books, podcasts, and newsletters on community. Bonus: a founder’s step-by-step guide to getting your first 1,000 community members.

The framework handbook — these 20 frameworks on startups, investing, writing, and life by Sahil Bloom will help you think through complex decisions.

Tools

Coming with a name for a new project can be daunting. This handy guide is a collection of the best tools and resources for naming things.
